One of the warmest summers on record with no rain to speak of, has led to reduced cropping levels across the board. The lack of rain meant that crops were down an average 10 to 20% and brought the vintage to a very early start with all our red varieties ripening together.
Our ability, to process 50% of our fruit intake at once has been a great advantage to us as the shorter ripening period has allowed us to bring in our premium grapes at their optimum flavour and balance.
The reduced crops have resulted in intensely coloured wines with great depth of flavour and structure with persistent natural fruit tannins that give this year’s reds good cellaring potential.
